Villabassa, ten kilometres far from the Austrian border and three kilometres far from the famous and nice town of Dobbiaco, is one of the most required tourist destination in Alta Pusteria (Puster Valley). The town was able to preserve its traditional character and its wonderful landscape. At a high altitude of 1,154 m it is an excellent start point for several trips in the surrounding natural parks. Excursions on foot or on mountain bike throughout Alta Pusteria are also possible. The Tourism Museum Haus Wassermann is also placed in Villabassa; here you can find the charm of the ancient inns and of the thermal baths which were attended by the members of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The public park Kurpark is also a paradise which includes several children’s games, tennis courts, bowls rinks, table tennis tables, five-a-side football courts and a comfortable bar.
In the evening you can appreciate and taste typical local plates in the pretty restaurants, pubs and coffees in Von Kurz square.
Villabassa can be reached by taking the Autostrada del Brennero (A22), going out of Bressanone and then taking the SS n. 49 “della Pusteria”. This road runs parallel the whole Puster valley up to the Austrian border of Prato Drava.
Bressanone is 58 kilometres far from Villabassa.
Villabassa also has a railway station.
